Wayne Bertrand
Guitarist Wayne Bertrand, born and bred in Yellowknife, knew at a young age he wanted to be a guitar player.
Fortuitously, Wilf Schidlowsky, his teacher at St. Pats agreed to teach him as long as Wayne found 10 other students who wanted to learn to play guitar.
He was one of the founding members of the popular Yellowknife band,“Stained Glass Illusion”.
In the early 1970s, Wayne created venues for local bands to play and events where young people could go to enjoy live music.
He filled his home with instruments and gear providing a space and opportunity for local and touring musicians to meet and jam together.
Wayne still writes and records his own original music today with collaborator, Lawrence Carr as “The Chili Project”.
