Randy Demmon
Randy Demmon grew up in Salmon Arm, BC and started playing in rock and roll bands when he was 11 years old.
In the early 1960s, he left Salmon Arm to study obroad at UBC in Vancouver.
By chance, Randy met the director of education for the NWT who was recruiting music teachers.
Randy signed on, packed up his wife, two children and all of their worldly possessions into and onto a 1957 Chevrolet for the dusty journey to Yellowknife.
He taught the first school music programs at Mildred Hall, Sir John Franklin and St. Patrick’s schools from 1969 to 1972.
In that time, Randy also played in the bars with many local musicians, most notably the band ”Rainbow Valley”.
