George Mandeville was just a 10 year old boy when he picked up a guitar while in hospital.

When he returned to his home town of Fort Resolution, he knocked on the door of his neighbour, Angus Beaulieu

George wanted to learn more.

He attended high school in Yellowknife, boarded at Akaitcho Hall and played lots of music.

After he graduated he stayed on in Yellowknife, worked as a carpenter, raised a family and is still playing his guitar today.

At 9 years old, George’s son Lee picked up the fiddle.

Since then the father-son duo has released 3 CDs of traditional Metis fiddle music and performed on national and international stages, sharing and celebrating their Metis traditions.
