David Evalik
David Evalik grew up in an outpost camp 200 miles south of Cambridge Bay, Nunavut.
He was raised on the old time country music his father called at square dances in his community and the traditional Inuit drum songs in igloos on the land.
David picked up the guitar at the residential schools he attended in Inuvik and Yellowknife.
While attending Akaitcho Hall, he performed with “The Centennaires” on their trip down the Mackenzie River during the Canadian Centennial in 1967.
While working in Inuvik in the 1970s, he formed “The Delta Good Time Band”.
David continues to play music in his home of Cambridge Bay today.
