Metis Singer/Songwriter Pat Burke was born and raised in Fort Smith, NT. He spent his early years listening to pop music on his crystal rocket radio and to local bands. In 1966, Pat went to Akaitcho Hall in Yellowknife. There he met other young musicians and formed the band “The Mystic Monks”. After high school, Pat toured with bands in the south through the mid 1970s. Along with George Kurzewski and Dennis Bevington, he was instrumental in organizing “The South Slave Friendship Festival”. Pat’s powerful voice can be heard on festival stages across the north and on the 1992 CBC Northern Service recording “Mackenzie Music”.
