In this podcast, we turn the spotlight on Yellowknife Bass player, Rob Wickson. Rob and his family landed in Yellowknife New Year’s Eve,1967. He came of age surrounded by the vibrant local music scene in the early 1970s. Rob was determined to make his own way, surviving through sometimes tenuous circumstances and jamming constantly with his lifelong friend, Wayne Bertrand. He worked multiple day jobs in Yellowknife, paying close attention to the musicians and the music scene as it was unfolding. Rob and Wayne were joined later on by singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, the late Brian Killeen and drummer Kim Ferrie to form the band “Sky Syrkle”. Rob brings a distinct perspective, with often humorous insights of the local music scene and of the musicians who made it happen. The years have not faded Rob’s love for playing music nor his drive to be a doer to benefit his community.
