April and Stan Mercredi

In her mid twenties, April Mercredi answered an ad in a local Red Deer paper from a band looking for a vocalist.
April only knew 2 songs, passed the audition and joined “Eve Ray and The Country Girls” in 1966.
She spent the next few years learning to sing, play guitar and entertain on stages throughout Alberta.
On a northern tour in 1969, she met Stan Mercredi in Fort Providence and eventually they both moved to Yellowknife in the late 1970s.
There, she made guest appearances with local bands in the bars and at community events.
April Mercredi passed away July 20, 2022. Stan Mercredi passed away February 8,2024.
